Ken Anderson

Born and raised in Minnesota, I was exposed to mushing as a small child with my parent's recreational team of Alaskan Malamutes.  Some of my fondest childhood memories are from the annual winter camping trips we'd take with the dogs into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.  I've always loved the north country.  My mother still tells stories about changing my diapers in thirty below weather while on one of our trips.
As a youngster I always dreamed of moving north and having my own team of sled dogs.  My father bought me a beautiful book on the Iditarod and I was instantly hooked!!  I made a promise to myself that someday I would run the famous race.  I moved to Alaska in 1993 to volunteer for the Iditarod and wound up working for famous racers such as Susan Butcher and Jeff King before starting my own team with my eventual wife, Gwen.  Today we own about 80 dogs.  I saw my dream come true in 1999, finishing my first Iditarod in 26th place.  With several subsequent top-20 finishes under my belt we are firmly focused on winning the last great race.
